Our beloved father Victor L. Gallegos Valles Sr., 91, went home to our Lord Jesus Christ on December 21, 2023. Victor was born in Hidalgo del Parral, Chih., Mexico on August 11, 1932 and resided in El Paso, Texas since 1968.

Victor was preceded in death by his wife Socorro C. Gallegos, daughters Maria del Socorro and Ma. Eugenia Gallegos, sisters Ma. De Jesus and Migdalia Gallegos Valles and brother Federico Gallegos Valles. He is survived by his daughters Leticia Mendez (Angel), Esther Delgado (Ricardo) and son Victor Gallegos Jr (Rosa). Grandchildren Victor Gallegos III (Neva), Claudia Gallegos (Alex), Michelle Delgado, Melissa Delgado – Salazar (Mike) and Damaris Gallegos. Great grandchildren Lucca Gallegos, Arya & Landon Martinez, Jude Salazar & Alan Delgado, several nieces, and nephews.

Victor was an officer in the Chihuahua State Secret Service in his early years and later worked and retired as a professional bartender in many of El Paso’s fine dining restaurants including the Gillespie’s club in Five Points which featured entertainment by Los Churumbeles de Espana, The Lancer’s club as well as several of El Paso’s exclusive country clubs. Victor was an intellectual man with whom you could discuss varied topics, such as historical or current events, which he would recall with precise detail. He was our encyclopedia for dates, names and political events such as the Mexican Revolution, US History and other world events. Victor was passionate when it came to bullfighting, which he considered an art form and would often defend it by explaining the art to critics. Victor also enjoyed the sport of boxing, playing chess, listening and dancing to the music of his era. Victor really enjoyed and passed on to us, his love of Mexican classic and Hollywood horror movies, of which the original Frankenstein and The Mummy were his favorites. Victor will be dearly missed by those he touched with heartfelt acts of kindness such as always visiting the sick and getting everyone together to eat as a family. But most of all, as an exemplary grandfather.
