Our Beloved sister Carolina Contreras,61 years old, went home to our heavenly Lord and Savior on December 20, 2023, in El Paso Texas. She was born on June 4, 1962 in Pecos, Texas.
She grew up in Pecos, Texas and graduated from Pecos High School in 1981. Carolina went to work for GTE Telephone Company as a telephone operator from 1980 to 1994. She helped customers with dialing instructions, calls to Mexico, collect and credit card calls. She liked and enjoyed her job and was a top notch operator. The telephone company moved to Fairfield, Denton and San Angelo and Carolina continued doing her job. After the telephone company closed, Carolina took care of her sick mother. Carolina moved to El Paso in October 1998 with her mother and two sisters.
Carolina loved to talk on the telephone with relatives and friends in the morning or night and was a “night owl”. She was a very thoughtful and considerate person. Carolina would tell friends “Take care of your loved ones”. She touched a lot of people’s lives, and a lot of people touched her life. Her favorite color was PINK.
Carolina loved the 80’s music and had a collection of cassettes and CD’s. Some of her favorite music artists were Madonna, Michael Jackson, Selena and Fito Olivares. Another hobby of Carolina was doing word search puzzles and doodling. Carolina loved to eat hamburgers and tacos but didn’t like turnips or beets. She was Catholic and volunteered at the Diocese of El Paso vocation’s office for several years. She was a registered parishioner at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church (Pecos) and San Antonio de Padua Church (El Paso).
Carolina(Chona) suffered a stroke in May 2019, and she lost her sight and independence. She was cared for by her two sisters at home. She was spirited and continued through life with joy.
She is preceded in death by Jesus Margarita sister 1960, Isabel Contreras, father in 1995 and Maria Quinones Contreras, mother in 2001, also her cousin Armando p. Dominguez in 2021.
