Services will be held at San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Dr., 79935 (915) 590-8700, Sunday, July 7 from 3:00 - 7:00 with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd., (79925) on Monday, July 8, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue at 2:30 p.m.
Margarita Solis, 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family members on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She was born to Maria and Pedro Ponce on December 16, 1927. Margarita was the last surviving member of the Ponce family which consisted of her brothers and sisters - Maria Luisa, Jesus Jose, Angel, Cuca, Manuel, and Carmen. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Carlos, and her son, David. She was also preceded in death by long-time companion, Joe Campos. Margarita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Margie and Benny Aguirre; and daughter-in-law, Lydia Solis. 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and even 2 great-great grandchildren felt the love and warmth of their Granny. Grandchildren and their families are as follows: Monica (Andy), Dominic (Clarice) and Logan, Abby; Gabriel (Michelle), Christian (Angelina) and forthcoming baby girl; Andrea (Phillip) and Abraham; Christina, Alexandra, and Cassidy; Alyssa; Sara, Bella, and Ayla; Tricia and Zachery; Carla (Carlos). She was a strong, courageous, compassionate woman from the greatest generation who leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to her caregiver, Judith Simpson; Hospice of El Paso, Liz Garcia, RN; Dr. Rocha and staff; and Dr. Najera and staff.
