Mrs. Antonia Arenas Ortiz, born on July 21, 1937, in El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the age of 87.
Antonia is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-six years, Angel Ortiz; her two children, Sylvia Ana Phipps and David Angel Ortiz; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Ortiz; and her cherished grandchildren: Meadow Ashley Ortiz, Darian David Ortiz, Kevin Angel Phipps, and Brian Phipps. She is also survived by her sister, Maria Artalejo. Antonia was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Arenas and Reyna Carrasco Arenas; her siblings Celia Maynard, Reyna Calderon, Salvador Arenas, Pedro Arenas, Roberto Arenas, and Emilio Arenas; as well as her son-in-law Major General Warren Phipps Jr.
Antonia grew up in El Paso and dedicated much of her life to helping others through her work at the Lee and Beulah Moor Children's Home before retiring. She found joy in simple pleasures such as traveling, playing Bunco with friends and dancing with her husband at the VFW afternoon Tardeadas. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family and many dear friends.
Antonia’s warmth, love and laughter touched the lives of all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind. Services for Mrs. Antonia Ortiz will be as follows:
