Ricardo “Richie” Ramirez, 76, of El Paso, Texas, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024.

Richie, our dear father, grandfather, and brother, was born on August 28, 1948, to Lorenzo S. and Cruz F. Ramirez and was the oldest of five children. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Janie whom he missed terribly, his parents, and his brother Ruben.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Rowena Ramirez and Rina (Ken) Cupples, his three granddaughters Kayla, Karina “Kari”, and Kristin Jane “KJ”, his brother Rodolfo Ramirez, his sisters Ruth (Danny) Bernal and Rebecca (Mark) Duran along with a wealth of family and friends.

Richie was a proud graduate of Bowie High School Class of 1966, honorable Vietnam War veteran who served with the United States Marine Corps, retired Frito Lay employee with 33 years of service, longtime baseball player inducted into the El Paso Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame, avid golf player, and a Dallas Cowboys fanatic.

Special thanks to all the wonderful healthcare workers at Del Sol Medical Center especially nurse Anthony and CenterWell Home Health who all provided excellent care.

Richie, who was Papa Richie to his granddaughters, will forever be loved and greatly missed. The family is comforted knowing he is at peace and resting in heaven with the love of his life Janie and all our dearly departed loved ones.

Pallbearers are Daniel Jason Bernal, Ken Cupples, Mark Anthony Duran, Benjamin Flores, Alexander Ramirez, and Rodolfo Ramirez Jr.
