A memorial to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at San Jose Funeral Home from 3-7 pm. Rosary at 6 pm.

Manuel “Manny” Barrios…

Born on November 17th 1939 in Durango City, Durango, Mexico to Maria Esther Ortiz and José Exiquio Barrios passed away peacefully in the company of his loved ones on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the age of 84 years old.

Manuel “Manny” Barrios was a fierce contender of life and the ring. The adversities of life drove him to become a brave and resilient man whose determination inspired him to seek a better future for himself and his future family.

His move to the city of Juarez at the age of 15, was the first of many changes that would shape his future.

Manuel, used his hands as a survival tool by entering the challenging and dangerous world of boxing, being determined to succeed and put his name in shining letters on billboards and boxing cards. He traveled the world as a valiant contender giving him recognition as an elite bantamweight boxer.

His skill and bravery on the ring gave him glory in his international boxing career and tremendous joy in his personal life. Manuel “Manny” Barrios was inducted into the Hall of Fame in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua in 1994.

Manuel met and married Amelia Arvizu Galaz in Ciudad Juarez and together had 4 children.

Manny Barrios will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother. His guiding hand will be on our shoulders for the rest of our lives – Amelia, Edna, Claudia, Liliana, and Manuel.

He will be reunited in heaven with his parents, brothers and sister. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sister.

Nació el 17 de noviembre de 1939 en la ciudad de Durango, Durango, México, hijo de María Esther Ortiz y José Exiquio Barrios paso a reunirse con el creador el dia Jueves, 13 de junio del 2024 a la edad de 84 años mientras descansaba en su hogar en compañia de sus seres queridos.

Manuel “Manny” Barrios era un feroz contendiente de la vida y del ring. Las adversidades de la vida lo llevaron a convertirse en un hombre valiente y tenaz que buscó un futuro mejor para él y su futura familia.

Su mudanza a la ciudad de Juárez a la edad de 15 años fue la primera de muchas aventuras que moldearían su futuro.

Manuel, usó sus manos como herramienta de supervivencia al ingresar al desafiante mundo del boxeo, estando decidido a triunfar y viajar por el mundo como un valiente contrincante poniendo su nombre muy en alto como peleador mexicano peso gallo. Manny Barrios fue un ícono del boxeo nacional e internactional por sus grandes batallas y conquistas en contra de formidables pugilistas llevándolo a convertirse en un ídolo de la afición Juarense.

Su habilidad y valentía en el ring le dieron una gran carrera y una vida plena. Manuel “Manny” Barrios fue honrado al ser electo como miembro del Salon de La Fama en Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua en 1994.

Manuel conoció y se casó con Amelia Arvizu Galaz en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, MX y tuvieron 4 hijos.

Manuel será recordado como un padre amoroso, abuelo, esposo y hermano. Su mano nos guiará por el resto de nuestras vidas – Amelia, Edna, Claudia, Liliana y Manuel.

Manny Barrios, se reunirá en el cielo con sus padres, hermanos y hermana. Le sobreviven su esposa, hijos, nietos, hermanos y hermana.

La funeraria San Jose, abrirá sus puertas para celebrar su vida el día sabado, 15 de junio de 2024 de 3-7 pm. Rosario a las 6 pm.
