Hector Torres, age 63, went to his eternal reward on December 30, 2024. He was born in El Paso, Texas on March 19, 1961 to parents Oscar and Frances Torres. He attended Riverside High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from UTEP in 1986. He worked for United Technologies and retired from Lear Corporation.
He was an avid gardener and loved going to local nurseries to add to his plant collection. Over the years he had many pet dogs that he diligently cared for and his favorites, perhaps, were the last Cavelier's he had, Gaius and Brutus. Attending small town festivals and folk art exhibits were his passion with excursions to the Silver City Apple Festival (when they had it), Ruidoso Beerfest, Las Artistas, and others. He loved living in El Paso and was often found at community events like Art in the Park, Chalk-a-Block, and the Greek Festival. This love of community extended to regularly attending the summer Bazaars of San Ignacio, and St. Anthony Seminary.
Most of all, however, he enjoyed life in Kern Place at the home that he shared with Andrew Gallardo.
He is survived by his mother Frances Torres, his sisters Norma Esquivel (Luis Esquivel) and Linda Higgs (Glenn Higgs), his brother Oscar Torres, and by nieces and nephews, Amanda, Richard, Isaiah, Elijah, Cheyenne, Joseph, Shelby and aunts and uncles Tony Torres, Joe Torres, Mary Valenzuela, and Aurora Corral.
Gaius, Brutus, and Andrew will also miss him greatly.
