It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Luisa Lopez, lovingly known as Malu, on December 10, 2024, at the age of 85.

She was preceded in death by her son, Francisco Lopez; her parents, Jesus and Josepha Lopez; and her siblings Irene Lopez, Socorro Villalobos, Estella Sanchez, Benito Lopez, Benjamin Lopez, Daniel Lopez, and Paulino Lopez.

She is survived by her brothers, George and Samuel Lopez; her daughters, Susana, Veronica, and Esther Lopez; and her son, Gabriel Lopez. Malu was the proud grandmother of Samuel Dorado, Mark Gutierrez, Kevin Gutierrez, Noel Raul Dorado, Christina Chryseis Dorado, Clarissa Lopez, Sarah Raquel Dorado and her husband, Michael Hoshor, Cilvana Carmela Lopez, Frank Israel Lopez, and Joel Lopez. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Markus Gutierrez, Annabella Irene Gutierrez, Avery Nicole Miranda, and Ethan Joel Lopez.

Malu will always be remembered for the values she instilled in her family, including an unwavering work ethic and a heart for helping others. She was deeply devoted to her faith and her church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and she never missed an opportunity to lift her community with her kindness and voice.

Many will remember Malu from her years of service at Canutillo High School, where she brought joy and laughter to the halls. She was a cornerstone of Canutillo history, leaving a lasting mark on everyone whose lives she touched. Her grandchildren remember her as a light in their lives and a safe haven of love and comfort.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her loving niece, Carmela De La Cruz, and devoted caretaker Lluvia Rey for their attention, love, and unwavering support during Malu’s final years.

A rosary and mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (7065 2nd Ave, Canutillo, TX 79835) from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the burial at Memorial Pines Cemetery (3061 Memorial Pines Rd, Sunland Park, NM 88063) from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in her honor, continuing her legacy of community support.

Malu will be deeply missed, but her love, wisdom, and dedication to her family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In Loving Memory of our Beloved Delia Montes Delia Montes, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her four sons, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
