Teodoro “Tirro” Valenzuela passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91. Teodoro was born in Zacatecas, Mexico on July 28, 1933, to his parents, Teodoro Valenzuela Ruiz and Celia Valenzuela de Lopez. Teodoro had three brothers, Oscar, Horacio and Ricardo, and a sister, Emma. His parents and siblings preceded him in death. Teodoro married Guadalupe Gomez on October 22, 1958. They were married for 66 years; she survives him in the family home. Teodoro is also survived by his stepson Manuel, and his children Fransisco & Anna Ruiz, Victor (Socorro), Celia (David), Gerardo, Leticia, Yolie (Rick), Luis (Diana). In addition, he is survived by 28 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Teodoro is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who live in California, Texas, and Mexico. He lived in Oakland, CA before moving to El Paso, TX. Teodoro worked in the service industry and rarely took a day off. His work ethic was unmatched, and at times held two jobs to provide for his family. He worked for over 30 years at the Plaza Hotel, in addition to the Airport Hilton Hotel, the Airport Holiday Inn, and the Paso Del Norte Hotel. After retiring from the Paso Del Norte Hotel, he worked at his son Victor’s mechanic shop picking up and delivering parts and performing jobs around the shop with a smile on his face. The only job Teodoro was more passionate about was his role as a grandfather and father to his children. Teodoro always remembered everyone's Birthday and you could always count on a phone call from him to wish you Happy Birthday. Teodoro became a naturalized citizen and spoke of how proud he felt when he placed his hand over his heart and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Teodoro loved music and loved to play the guitar and sing. He was also a talented athlete, playing semi-professional baseball in Juarez, Mexico. He was an avid lifelong fan of baseball, meeting his tokayo, Fernando Valenzuela of the LA Dodgers. He proudly displayed his signed baseball and photograph of he and Fernando in his bedroom. It was fitting that our beloved Father was able to watch his beloved Dodgers win the World Series before his death. He was a humble and hardworking man, with a gentle disposition who was loved by so many. He rarely complained, even when he had a good reason to. His family will miss him forever, and the hole left by his absence will never be filled. Funeral services have been entrusted to San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Dr. Public viewing will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 4:00 pm- 8:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm.
