Sammy will be remembered for his kind heart, selfless nature, wisdom and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Sammy will be honored at San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Dr, El Paso, TX on May 22nd, 2024. Services will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with military honors and the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sammy Montañez Amezquita, who was born on May 7th, 1953, in Seoul, Korea in body, Puerto Rico in spirit. Sammy passed away on May 14th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Sammy was the beloved son of Candido Montañez, Gregoria Amezquita, and Natividad Montañez. He is survived by: Natividad Montañez, his wife Cynthia Janet Rivera, his daughter Sandra Taisha Montañez, his sons Sammy Antonio Montañez Rivera, Giovanni Ian Montañez Rivera, and countless siblings and relatives.
Sammy dedicated his life to helping others as a Podiatry Technician and Registered Nurse, retiring in 2017 after many years of service. Prior to his medical career, Sammy proudly served in the Army as a Private First Class in the 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne Divisions from 1973 to 1975, deploying to Vietnam during his service.
Outside of his professional life, Sammy had a passion for music, films, and photography. He enjoyed spending time with his family and creating lasting memories together.
