Rosemarie Castillo Duran
On Wednesday August 11, 2021, Rosemarie peacefully entered the gates of Heaven. A loving, caring creative, energetic sister lost her battle with a debilitating illness.
On July 6, 1941, Rosemarie was born in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Carlos and Baudelia Castillo, eight years later the family moved to El Paso. Rosemarie was the maverick in the family, after graduating from El Paso High she built up the nerve to tell our parents she was moving to Los Angeles. It was there that she was exposed to the arts and the finer things in life.
Rosemarie had a knack of brightening a room, a party, a family gathering as it came effortlessly to her. She had the rare gift of turning a dull moment into a colorful festive venue. Fashion, jewelry, décor, and family were her priorities. She was a compassionate loving individual and at the same time tough as nails. Her smile, flair of dress, accessorized by the jewelry she designed were all Rosemarie’s, her calling card. She was instrumental in organizing Polo for A Purpose, a sporting event that benefited our local American Cancer Society. She instructed students on etiquette, dress for success, table manners and modeling at the Barbizon School of Modeling. She owned several dress shops, one in Weston, Connecticut and her most recent one, Attitudes for Apparel in El Paso. Later she became a fragrance representative at Dillard’s for various designer perfume lines.
Her devotion to family unshakable, her devotion to life itself unquestionable. ‘La Negra’ will forever be missed, she leaves a great void in our life.
Rosemarie is preceded in death by both parents Carlos and Baudelia Castillo, brother-Charles C Castillo.. She is survived by her son Kenneth J. Panzarella, sister Constance G. Delgado, niece and nephew Melinda, Larry, and Isabel Delgado. Brother Henry and sister-in-law Hedi, God-daughter Sydney Castillo and ex-husband Milton Duran.
A special appreciation is extended to Margarita Lopez that tended to Rosemarie for the last five years.
