Richard Saenz, 75, passed away at Las Palmas Hospital among family members, He was a lifetime resident of El Paso, Texas and was preceded in death by his mother Margarita Soto and his father Isaias Saenz. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 45 years, Irene Beltran Saenz and one cousin, Irma Chavez Rodriguez.
Richard attended Bowie High School and then graduated from El Paso Tech. He then began his career as an engine mechanic at Southern Pacific Railroad. He married Irene Beltran and they shared their lives over the past 45 years.
He was outgoing, always smiling and loved to be around people. He always lit up when he shared memories of the many places he had traveled to. His jokes and his jovial laughter are remembered by everyone who knew him. He could seem intimidating with his large and strong frame, but he was the most gentle, loveable, soft person you could come across. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and his beloved dog, Toby. War time movies were at the top of his list when it came to enjoyment, but NASCAR racing came in a close second. There was a scholarly side to him and he loved to read. In his office there remains an abundance of literature, including his collection of National Geographic magazines and natural science books. He was very knowledgeable about world issues and current events. He will be missed by all.
Special thanks to Dr. Ahmad Hajj, M.D. and Dr. Teresa Pinaroc, M.D., and the dedicated medical professionals who cared for him over many years.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20th from 4:00 to 8:00, with the rosary at 7:00 pm. Burial will be on Wednesday, September 21 at 11:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery East.
