Marina Ortiz Mena passed away peacefully at her El Paso,Texas east side home on Sunday June 5, 2022.
Born May 10, 1929, she was the daughter of Amelia Ortiz, Devita and siblings to sisters Gloria Aguilera, Geraldine Gourley, Lily Devita and brothers Francisco Ortiz, Arturo, and Orlando Devita

Marina was married 68 years to her childhood sweetheart Eddie Mena. Together, they raised three children, Arnelo, Jodie and Jheri Mena. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Sarah, Raquel, Ariel, Simone and Marcela.

Marina worked as a beautician (hair stylist) all her life and successfully ran her own beauty shop serving customers on El Paso’s east side. She was pretty good with a sewing machine, making dresses for herself as well as clothing alterations for others. An excellent cook, Marina made some delicious dishes some of her specialties were menudo and green chili enchiladas.

She spent a lot of time traveling the country with her “Bowie High School alumni friends” spending yearly trips in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and traveling to other places. Marina was very keen to fashion and enjoyed getting dressed up on the weekends and attending dances or watching live music. Music had a huge influence on her life, listening to her favorite corridos, norteno, big band, and sound music. Marina loved to dance whenever opportunity arose, whether she was cleaning or cooking she would blast her music and dance away.

Marina had a good 93 year adventure-filled life. She will be dearly missed but will also be openly welcomed in heaven by those who have passed before her. Now, she’s about to be invited to the biggest El Segundo Barrio party. All of her friends, relatives and pets are waiting to greet her. But it’s her number one dance partner, Eddie, who will be the first to greet her so they can dance away into eternity! Until we cross paths again, journey well mom, We will always love you!
