Maria Elena “Nena” Jurado made heaven a little more beautiful when she left us on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the age of
78. Nena, was a selfless and caring wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Although she is no longer with us,
her spirit lives on in the family that she loved so much.
Her beautiful mother Mary Patricia Lowrance welcomed her into the world on June 8, 1943. After leaving Mexicali, Baja
California. Nena came to El Paso at the tender age of 11 and enrolled herself into school. Years later she began her long
career as a nutritionist in a hospital setting, at which time she met her beloved husband Humberto “Beto” Jurado, Jr.
Nena will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 blissful years, Humberto “Beto” Jr. Together they had five children:
Humberto “Beto” III, Yvette (Oaxaca), Santos, Jose and Lorenzo. She was the loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and
8 great grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters Sylvia Matamoros, Raul Flores, Guillermo Flores, Margarita Flores, and
Bobby Jr., Sam, Richard, Eddie, John, David and Joe Lowrance.
Nena loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. Family favorites were her famous
Christmas cookies and Bunuelos. She loved nature, where she spent most of her time outdoors in her beautiful garden with
her husband. She found relaxation in crocheting and challenging her memory with puzzles and games. Nena was and
forever shall be, a beautiful soul who enjoyed the company of all. She will be forever missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m.
