Maria Del Carmen Sanchez joined Our Lord and Blessed Mother in heaven on December 28, 2019.
Carmen, Carmelita or Maria as she was called was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico on March 2,
1944 to the late Juventina Gonzalez Sanchez and Enrique Sanchez. She first came to the U.S. and Texas
at a very young age with her aunt the late Anastacia Sanchez but often returned to visit her parents
and her 8 siblings. She attended St. Ignatius Elementary and graduated high school from Father Yermo
in 1964. She was a master in the kitchen, and she used her gifts working for Luby’s cafeteria as a baker
for 36 years. Throughout her life and in her retirement, she shared her love of baking with everyone
and many were those who enjoyed her cakes, pies and cookies. She also loved the fellowship she
enjoyed with the Silver Sneakers gym group where she relished doing yoga with them. Her greatest
achievements were her children; Nurse Practitioner Sandra Viscon, Claims Lead Gerardo Sanchez, pre-k
teacher Analilia Sanchez and social worker Jesus Sanchez. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 4
great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members who truly loved her and will
miss her hospitality and open arms. Viewing will be Friday, January 3, from 5 pm to 8 pm at St. Ignatius
Catholic Church 408 S. Park St. El Paso, TX 79901, holy rosary will start at 6:30 pm. Funeral mass will be
on Saturday, January 4, at 9 am at St. Ignatius followed by burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Funeral
