In the quiet hours before dawn on December 22, 2018, our beloved mother Margarita Torres Camacho passed away at age 92. She had been spending the holidays with our youngest sister Lisa, her husband Charlie, granddaughter Marissa and her great grandchildren in Temple, Texas. She was looking forward to coming home to El Paso after the New Year, but God had his own plans and called her to his home instead. Born on June 4, 1926, Mom was preceded in death by our father, Juan, just one year ago. They married as high school sweethearts and she remained a loyal wife for 66 years. She was a devoted mother to her five children: Eddie (Laura), Rosie (Louie), Isela (Mike), John (Hilda) and Lisa (Charlie) who will carry on her loving memory within their hearts to her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play on their sports teams. You could always find her sitting in front of the TV cheering for her favorite football, basketball player or boxing match. A robust discussion over today’s politics would bring a twinkle to her eye. She looked forward to every spring so that she could tend to her garden. But her number one love in life was reveling in the accomplishments of her family and seeing them succeed in life. Visitation for Mrs. Camacho will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East. Funeral mass will be Friday, January 4, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Gabriel, Michael and Joseph Camacho, Luis Alberto, Rene and Adrian Rocha. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Camacho, John Camacho, Michael Wells, Charlie Natividad, Art Dominguez, and Luis Rocha.
