  Joseph A. Salem, Jr.

El Paso, Texas –Joe, 77, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020.  He was born to Mary Auxillo Serros and Joe Salem Sr. on May 16, 1943 in El Paso.  He attended Saint Joseph Catholic School, was a graduate of Cathedral High School and went to Texas Western College.

He was a Graphic Artist at White Sands Missile Range and has a number of projects displayed at several locations. He was also a Proprietor of Salem Galleria de Arte. Joe had such a fun-loving side to him. He enjoyed participating in community events by face painting and selling arts and crafts. Joe loved listening to oldies and Bob Marley. Joe was a vintage car collector and took pleasure in playing the piano.  He had many great qualities which involved making other people happy. He will forever be our family cookout king.

He is survived by his daughters Laura Harding and Christy Salem. Son, Joey Salem and several grandchildren. Stepchildren Vanessa Perez, Veronica Herrera, Chris Herrera and Cindy Tovar. Sisters are Rita Stewart, Rosie Towne, Bobbie Jean Forti, Evelyn Negrete, Hilda Williams, Alma Rojas, and Guadalupe Salvidrez. Brothers Louie, Frank, and Jorge Salem. Cousins Lorraine and Virginia Jabalie.

Special thanks to my children Veronica, Vanessa, and our grandson CJ Herrera who gave Joe his medications 24/7 and provided me with emotional support in my time of need.

Joe was many things to me.  He was my rock, my support system, my comfort, my drinking buddy, my dancing partner, my traveling companion, my best friend, my lover, and my prayer partner. Almighty God loaned him to me for almost 30 years. For that, I am grateful.  Now he is my diamond in the sky and always until death DID we part. He will forever be the LOVE OF MY LIFE.

His Sweetheart,

Irene Salem
