Jesús Maria Manríquez, educator, mother, grandmother, sister, Nina, and good friend passed away on July 8, 2021. Marie, as she was known to all bravely with grace and humor battled a number of illnesses. She finally succumbed to those illnesses much too soon but with dignity and courage. It was her wish that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the Lupus Research Alliance.

Born December 24, 1951 Marie was a lifelong resident of El Paso Texas. She graduated from Loretto Academy in 1969 and received her BA in education from UTEP in 1973. Marie taught Spanish and Mexican culture with passion and pride, she strove to impart that on to her students. Marie’s career with YISD spanned 28 years, most notably at Eastwood Knolls, Ascarate and Constance Holbert Elementary.
Marie loved to travel and learn from other cultures. She was an avid collector and enjoyed taking pictures. Marie was always genuine, her wonderful soul welcomed everyone into her life. Her joyful spirit and warm beautiful smile will live in our hearts forever. Her sense of humor and optimism in the face of so much adversity will remain an inspiration to her family. She always exuded strength.
Marie is preceded in death by her mother Margarita and father Jose Concepción. She was a loving mother to Saine-Maritza and Severiano. She lived for her grandchildren Ezekiel, Zayden, Camila and their mother Alexis. She was the oldest of three sisters and leaves behind her siblings Joan and Sylvia, Goddaughter Yesenia, nephews Richard and Steven and niece Marissa.
Nuestra amada madre dormirá con los angelitos para siempre que Dios la Bendiga.
Services will be held Friday, July 16th at San Jose funeral home East. The viewing will take place from 10-1:30PM with the Rosary to follow at 12:30. Our Lady of the Valley on 8600 Winchester will host her Mass at 2:00.
