Mr. James “Jim/Jimmy” Graham Klaes III went to be with the Lord March 23, 2022 at the age of 76. Jim was preceded in death by his father James G. Klaes Jr. and mother Frances Barker Klaes. Jim is survived by his sister and her husband, Eugenia Klaes Karam and Charles Ferris Karam; son, Ian Christopher Klaes and his wife, Lisa Webb Klaes; son, Brian Jeremy Klaes and his wife, Christina Baca Klaes; his grandchildren, Dominic; Isaac (Rheanne); Devin; Avery; Garrett; Abigail; and Stella.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Kai and Malik.

Jim was born in Mt. Vernon, New York and moved to El Paso with his parents and sister from Ft. Bragg, North Carolina in 1958. This after their military family also lived in Fort Benning, GA, Manhattan, KS, and Sendai, Japan.  He attended Burges Junior High and graduated from Jesuit High School in 1963.  After graduating from the University of San Francisco, Jim was stationed overseas for a few years and served during the Vietnam War with the Army. He returned to El Paso in 1970 to start a family and begin a career in copywriting, broadcast production, journalism, teaching, advertising, and lastly as Marketing Coordinator with El Paso Crime Stoppers where he retired in 2018.

Jim loved El Paso, the arts, music, Hueco Tanks, camping/outdoors, and his friends and family.  He had many wonderful art pieces in his home, which he cherished, but his most prized possession was his family.  Jim will be sorely missed yet we know he is happy with his parents now and will forever be in our hearts and thoughts until we meet again.

Our family would like to invite you to attend the visitation in his honor on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 4:00 PM followed by Rosary service at 5:00 PM at San Jose Funeral Home East (10950 Pellicano; 79935).  A mass will be held at St. Pius X Church (1050 Clark; 79905) at 11:30 AM followed by graveside service at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on Monday, April 11, 2022. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dominic Perez, Isaac Perez, Devin Klaes, Garrett Klaes, Evan Karam, and James Karam.  In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to any of the following whom Jim always supported: Gigi’s Playhouse El Paso & Texas State Parks.
