Services are on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 8600 Winchester, viewing is from 10:30 am to 12, followed by funeral mass at 12 noon. Burial at Fort Bliss Cemetery will be at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Rio Grande Cancer Foundation at 616 N. Virginia, El Paso, Texas 79902, or Our Lady of the Valley Building Fund at 8600 Winchester, El Paso, Texas 79907 or MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Gonzalo “Slim” Delgado born in El Paso, Texas on November 11, 1939 to Enrique and Hilaria Delgado; died peacefully at his home on February 14, 2018. He was married for 48 years to Ofelia R. Delgado of El Paso, Texas. Slim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired from the El Paso Water Utilities Company. He volunteered with the El Paso Special Olympics for 19 years, serving as a board member and winning volunteer of the year for one of those years. He worked with Golden Gloves amateur boxing and professional boxing in El Paso as an official time keeper and ring side official. He was inducted to the El Paso Boxing Hall of Fame in November 2002. He volunteered at El Paso Recreation Centers promoting boxing to young kids. As a devoted member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church he was a Eucharist Minister and Guadalupano and served in various other capacities. He is survived by wife Ofelia R. Delgado, sister Dolores Campbell, and nieces and nephews; Elizabeth, John, Angie, Steve, Angel and Ruben Rodriguez, Louie and Hector Rodriguez and Monica Lewis, Javier Sean Campbell and Melinda and Larry Delgado. Great grand nieces and nephews; Julia Rodriguez, Xzandra Fo, Nicole, Louie III, and Hector Jr. Rodriguez. He adored and was loved by his wife, nieces and nephews.
