Cheryl Sims-Miller was born on June 4, 1961 to Gisella Sims and the late Allen Sims in Chicago, IL. Cheryl heard the voice of Jesus calling on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Cheryl attended St. Mary’s Sacred Heart grade School and St. Francis Academy High School in Joliet, IL. Cheryl then attended Western IL. University in Macomb, IL and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication from Governor’s State University in University Park, IL. Cheryl recently retired from EPISD after 25 years of dedicated service teaching Speech and Drama which she was recognized with numerous awards including Educator of the Year. Cheryl met Louis at Western IL University and was united in marriage on September 3, 1988 at Sacred Heart Church in Joliet, IL. From this union they were blessed with two children whom they both raised to be the independent, strong individuals they are today. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Allen Sims and sister Cherise Johnson. She is survived by her devoted husband Louis, loving children Cantrell and Chandler, mother Gisella Sims of Joliet, IL, one sister Briana Sims of Joliet, IL, mother-in-law Juanita Miller (Louis Sr. deceased), two sister-in-laws Sandra Berryhill and Michelle Edwards of Maywood, IL, Aunts Phyllis Warr and Susan Warr, special cousins Ivan Allen and Corey Allen, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind four special friends Moses and Teresa Davis, Matt and Becky Rocha, and special care giver Prudie Briseño. Visitation September 1st from 5-9 pm, rosary at 6 pm at San Jose Funeral Home-East. Mass September 2nd at 12 pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
