Carlos Antonio Arellano, age 87, passed away at his home surrounded by family on October 16, 2023. Carlos was born in El Paso, Texas on January 17, 1936, to Samuel and Rita Arellano. He grew up in Segundo Barrio and attended Alamo Elementary. Carlos graduated from the old Bowie High School where he ran track and played on the basketball team. He served in the United States Army and retired from the El Paso Fire Department in 1981. Carlos’s intelligence, humor, and wit were a shining light to anyone who knew him. He is survived by his beautiful and caring wife, Maria Cristina Arellano; and his four children, Daniel Arellano, John Chavez, Joe Chavez, and Carla Charles. Carlos also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and grandchildren whom he cherished greatly. He fought a strong fight and will forever be remembered. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 1pm to 4pm with recitation of the rosary at 3pm at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr. Funeral mass will be Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church. In-urnment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1pm.
