Basilia Martinez Flores passed away at 96 years of age. Mom left this world Sunday, August 1, 2021, to join her husband. She was preceded in death by our Dad, John Francis Flores Sr., who left us on October 19, 2007.
She was an amazing person and a wonderful mother. She, along with our Dad, raised six children and provided well for us. In addition, Mom cared for her mother and worked hard every day to take care of our home, made delicious meals, sewed our clothes, knitted, crocheted, and baked amazing desserts. Additionally, she guided us with love and patience and prayed for us daily. She loved to swim and enjoyed participating in water aerobics and camaraderie amongst friends.
Mom and Dad grew up in poverty; however, they worked hard to achieve the American dream and made life better for us. Our parents taught us to take pride in hard work, accept responsibility for our actions, respect others, and emphasize the importance of education and faith. Mom was a devout and practicing Catholic all her life. She had a kind heart and a gentle manner, and a quick wit.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren:
Son – Frank, and grandchildren Erika and husband Travis DeCampos
Son and daughter-in-law – Alex & Dolores, and grandchildren Richard, Alex Jr., and Chris
Son – Larry, and grandchildren Michael, Larissa, and Lucas
Son – John Jr.
Son and daughter-in-law – Joe and Patricia, and grandchildren Victoria and Nicholas
Daughter, Liz and son-in-law Kevin Tomc, and grandchildren Jacob, Gena, Luke, and Kolbe
