Arturo M. Arriaga, 86, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022 surrounded in love by his children.

Arturo M. Arriaga was born in El Paso, Texas to Refugio Arriaga and Luz Arriaga. He grew up with his wonderful sister Concepcion Sanchez.
When he was 17, he joined the Navy and served his country proudly and with honor. He served on the U.S.S Lexington and went oversees to Japan as a Utilitiesman Petty Officer. After serving in the Navy, he returned to marry the love of his life: Lelia Perez.

They loved going to outings with friends and family members as they traveled Casinos in New Mexico. Together they had four children and many great memories. Arturo was very proud to be a Bowie Bear, a U.S. Navy Veteran and a Great Friend to many. Arturo was a hard working man, a dependable husband, and a kind father. When he was not working, he would participate in afterschool games, Senior class trips and simply helping pop popcorn at our elementary functions.

Friends he met late in life said the following: ” Art was such an amazing friend” “He was the first to welcome me and make me feel at home” “Art was very social and funny” Arturo was artistic and developed the art of painting and crocheting. Making beautiful scarfs and hats. Many times just donating them to those who were at Highlands rehab center.

Arturo M. Arriaga is survived by his Sister: Concepcion Sanchez, His daughters Estella Padilla ( Daniel Padilla), Silvia Monzon ( Rodolfo Monzon) his sons Daniel Arriaga (Kathleen Chacon), Arturo Fernando Arriaga ( Martina Arriaga). His Grand Children Eileen Padilla, Mark Arriaga (Samantha Arriaga), Fernando Arriaga, Gabriel Monzon, Michael Monzon and His Great grandchildren: Logan Arriaga and Leilani Arriaga.

He was preceded in passing by his wife Lelia P. Arriaga .

The funeral service will be held at San Jose Funeral Home onJune 16, 2022 at 9am, Mass will follow at 12:30 at Mother Cabrini Church and burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. His family will be present to welcome all family and friends.
