It is with great sadness that we announce on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the young age of 98 Francisco passed away with his daughter and granddaughter by his side. Francisco was born in El Paso, TX and was raised by his grandmother. At a very young age he would shine shoes, sell newspaper, did whatever he had to help support and feed his grandmother. At age 17, he joined the U.S. Navy where he fought in World War II. He was very humble and very proud of his military career. In 1944, he met his wife Consuelo. He worked for Mumson and Cashway. He retired and began volunteering at UMC. When Covid hit he had to stay home. He played softball till the age of 90. He loved to watch sports, and spend time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed driving by his old neighborhood downtown, and remembered where everyone lived. Mr. Cervantes is preceded in death by his wife Consuelo and grandson Richard. He is survived by his 3 children: Robert, Richard and daughter Annie, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren. A very special Thank you to Dr. Chang, his staff and all his doctors at the VA, Hospice El Paso for their kind and compassionate care that was given to him.
