Doris Ferguson Lujan born November 9, 1942 to Carmen Perfecto and Manuel Vargas Ferguson, in Morenci, AZ.
Doris was the eldest of 7 siblings; she was preceded by Ruth Clark, Sandra French, Ronald Ferguson, Richard Ferguson, Susanna Ferguson and James Ferguson.
She was a 1960 El Paso, Austin High School graduate. In school she drove a 1952 Plymouth and a Red 1955 Pontiac convertible.
Can you imagine the 3 sisters cruising in that car?
After High school, she worked as a Beautician at Ft. Bliss, followed by getting married in October 29, 1961. Her marriage lasted 64 years.
Doris had 2 children, Elizabeth Carmen Arroyos born in El Paso, TX and Leonard Lujan born in San Francisco, CA. She has one grandchild, Adam Zachary Arroyos, from Elizabeth.
Upon moving from San Francisco to El Paso she got a job as a bank teller for the same Bank: State National, M Bank, Nations and Wells Fargo. Her final position was a supervisor after 39 years of service.
She received many awards and accolades during her remarkable career. She exhibited her true talent and work ethic in this industry. Could anyone imagine having customers bringing gifts from their respective countries because of her professionalism and kindness?
Doris’ interests included guitar, dancing and listening to many musicians especially Elvis and Janis Joplin. She was partial to psychedelic and R&B music.
She loved family trips to Las Vegas, playing cards and crossword puzzles, Holiday meals were her specialty, but did not enjoy the day today cooking routine.
Her favorite sports team was the Dallas Cowboys, especially when they won their first Superbowl in 1971.
We are all saddened for her passing and she will be sorely missed.
Fortunately, she left a memorable Legacy.
